Political sales: Don’t wait to reach out locally

This week I received a great question from a member about Customized Newspaper Advertising’s political sales efforts:

“With political season in full swing, we are reaching out to our local candidates for advertising. I wondered about reaching out to the candidates who are running for State offices – will CNA be reaching out to them for statewide advertising, or would you recommend we reach out to those candidates as well?”

For Wisconsin state legislative races in your respective districts, as well as all local-level offices: yes, please go for it! If you have political connections seeking wider markets, contact us and we can help.

CNA focuses its statewide political sales efforts on state and national races that need to reach voters across Wisconsin’s entire electorate. Think congressional races, Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Treasurer and other statewide offices in primary and general elections. We also focus on advocacy organizations that are seeking a broad reach into communities across the state or region.

At every level, newspaper readers are voters. More than 3.9 million Wisconsinites vote in local, state and national elections, and 91% of voters read their local newspaper in print and digital formats. In addition, 62% of Wisconsin adults say local newspapers and their websites are the source they use, rely on and trust for information about voting and elections.

Now is the time to make those calls. Wisconsin Primary Elections will be held August 11 and the General Election this year is November 3.

Candidates need to reach voters, and your newspaper is one of the best ways to make that happen.
