Sean Scallon named editor of Courier-Wedge

Sean Scallon

Sean Scallon, current editor of the Tri-County Area Times newspaper, has been chosen to be the new editor of the Durand Courier-Wedge. He began his tenure on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

A May 28, 2026 item in the Courier-Wedge announced the hiring. According to the story:

Scallon has been a double editor before. When he joined the Stumpf Media Company in 2019, he was named editor of the both the Augusta Area Times and the Tri-County Area Times newspapers. He’s also overseen their transition into one joint newspapering 2021.

Scallon began his career in 1995 at the Tribune Press-Reporter in Glenwood City, followed by a stint as sports editor of the Marion (Ill.) Republican the same year, and then as sports editor of the Shawano Leader from 1995-98.

He worked as sports editor and reporter for the Pierce County Herald from 1998-2015, and then as editor of the Prescott Journal from 2015-19.

Originally from the Chicagoland area, Scallon drew up in Beloit, graduating from Beloit Memorial High School in 1991. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and communication arts from UW-Madison in 1994. He resides in Arkansaw with his wife, Georgina.
