“I don’t understand what’s going on with the open records requests,” said Glenwood City Councilperson Terri Ross. She was visibly upset about the amount of time that local police have spent filling open records requests.
A piece about the council meeting appeared in the May 20, 2026 issue of the Tribune Press Reporter from Glenwood City. According to the story:
Ross did not indicate if only one person or several people have requested copies of images captured on a city owned trail camera placed at Hinman Park to protect the playground equipment at the park that has been vandalized.
At Monday night’s regular council meeting, Ross informed those attending the meeting that local police had spent more than 20 hours last month redacting children’s faces from requested material.
“We have spent almost $12,000 in open records requests, wasting your tax dollars on open records requests,” Ross said, pointing to the citizens that were attending the council meeting.
During the discussion about cameras in the park, Mayor Kletscher was questioned about cameras at Hinman Park, and he answered that there would be “no cameras at Hinman Park [going forward].”
Ross also tied the cost of the open records requests to the fact that the city needs revenue, adding “I will be dead for the city’s debt is paid.”
