This St. Patrick’s Day, you’re in luck! Wisconsin is full of a whole lot of Irish spirit, and local pubs know just how to show it! From the stunning shores of Lake Superior to the winding Great River Road and all the way down to the southern cities, we’re taking you on the ultimate pub crawl through some of the state’s best Irish pubs. Ireland, in spirit at least, is just a short drive away. So pack your green and let’s hit the road!
The Snug — Washburn, Wisconsin
We’re starting this Irish pub crawl at none other than The Snug in Washburn! Tucked along the stunning shores of Lake Superior, this Northern Wisconsin pub serves up fan favorites like homemade chips and classic cheese curds. And you have to try a few “Snug Specialties,” such as the famous Scotch Egg and the one-of-a-kind Bog Bird sandwich.
Limericks Public House — Wausau, Wisconsin
Head further south to Wausau, home to Limericks Public House! Right downtown, Limericks always offers a drop of good cheer, embracing that world-renowned Irish character and hospitality. Whether you’re looking for lunch or dinner, Limericks has the best of the best on the menu, from soups and salads to hearty traditional Irish meals—including Shepherd’s Pie!
Monarch Public House — Fountain City, Wisconsin
To the west in Fountain City stands Wisconsin’s oldest operating tavern—The Legendary Monarch Public House! Dating back to 1894, this beautifully restored establishment is legendary for good reason. They serve all the classic, iconic dishes and drinks, from corned beef and bangers and mash to more hearty fare. And be sure to try the signature Bloody Mary!
Dublin’s Irish Pub — Oshkosh, Wisconsin
The Irish pub crawl continues east in Oshkosh, where Dublin’s Irish Pub welcomes one and all with a wee bit o’ Ireland! In addition to the fantastic Irish fare, Dublin’s offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re catching up over a pint of craft beer or a bowl of warm Irish stew, there’s no doubt you’ll fall in love with this place.
Paddy Coughlin’s Pub — Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin
Finally, in Southern Wisconsin, Paddy Coughlin’s Pub is a Fort Atkinson favorite. Known as Wisconsin’s most unique and authentic Irish pub, Paddy’s offers a wide range of entrees, featuring local products and sustainable, wild-caught seafood. And be sure to save room for dessert, especially the Guinness Chocolate Cake and Irish Bread Pudding!
For anyone looking for a little bit of Ireland right here in Wisconsin, these places are truly the best, especially for St. Patrick’s Day! Each spot brings something different to the table, but they all share the same warm, welcoming spirit of Emerald Isle. Whether you’re raising a glass at Dublin’s in Oshkosh, exploring the history of The Legendary Monarch Public House in Fountain City, or soaking up the charm at Paddy Coughlin’s Pub in Fort Atkinson, you’re in for a true Irish experience. Where will we spot you this St. Patrick’s Day?
