The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel will co-sponsor an open panel discussion about guns at 10 a.m. on March 7 at Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge State of Wisconsin at Prince Hall Masonic Temple, which is located at 1218 W. North Ave. on Milwaukee’s north side.

The panel will be moderated by Journal Sentinel reporters John Diedrich and James Causey to offer a place to have frank, full conversations about guns and firearms ownership in Milwaukee. Marquette University’s O’Brien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism is a co-sponsor.

“The reporting by John Diedrich through the O’Brien Fellowship has prompted important community discussions, such as this one,” said Greg Borowski, executive editor of the Journal Sentinel and a member of the WNA’s Board of Directors. “We are glad to play a part in advancing the conversation about gun safety.”

Panelists will include:

• Eddie Silas, co-owner and director of business with the security group Prolific Arms, one of a handful of Black-owned gun shops in the U.S.;

• Kevin Simmons, who survived being shot six times by a teen after picking up a rider as an Uber driver in October 2023; and

• Radio hosts Michelle Bryant and Homer Blow.

In addition to the event beginning at 10 a.m., an information fair and light refreshments will be available from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
