A Kiel City Council alder called for another to resign during the council’s Nov. 18, 2025 meeting.
According to a Nov. 27 story in the Kiel Tri-County News:
During the Nov. 18 meeting, a Kiel business owner spoke about an incident where someone deposited bags of dog excrement on the business owner’s porch and underneath the owner’s porch.
The business owner told alders she received a video from a camera and took it to the Kiel Police Department. The department identified Alder Kathy Schuette’s husband, who was cited for littering, as the person depositing excrement-filled bags.
“I do believe this is vengeance for the hoopla at a recent meeting,” the business owner told alders. “I feel it is inappropriate behavior.”
Schuette did not attend the Nov. 18 meeting, but that didn’t stop Alder Tyler Buell from responding to the business owner during the meeting.
“I think that the recent behavior and conduct of Alderperson Schuette is unbecoming and unprofessional,” Buell said to the business owner. “The accusations that were lodged against you were proved to be unfounded and unfair. I do not think that kind of behavior and conduct should be welcome here. She decided not to show up tonight and I think we all know why. We cannot take action on this since she is not here. I recommend Alderperson Schuette step down from her position as alderperson to the fourth district of the City of Kiel.”
Kiel Mayor Bob Hennings recommended the council revisit the issue after Tuesday night’s meeting.
“It is unfortunate and I am sorry you had to go through that,” Hennings said. “I cannot believe they would do something like that. Thank you for coming in and saying something.”
Kiel City Administrator Dave Funkhouser said that under Chapter 1712 of Wisconsin State Statutes offers three options: Schuette may resign, face a recall election from citizens in her district, or a council vote of three-fourths of the council, or five alders, could remove her.
No further action was taken during the meeting, according to the story.
