David Schoepp

A 50-plus-year retired employee of the Green Bay Press-Gazette died on Nov. 13, 2025 — just before his 92nd birthday.

An obituary appeared in the Nov. 19, 2025 issue of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. According to the obituary:

David Schoepp was born on Nov. 14, 1933 to Mathias Sr. and Violet (Leuthjohann) Schoepp in Green Bay.

He attended SS Peter and Paul Grade School, and was a graduate of East Green Bay High School’s Class of 1952. On scholarship, he continued his education at St. Norbert’s College, where he participated in ROTC.

He started his printing career at Steubie’s Printing Company. During his time there, he made deliveries to the Green Bay Press-Gazette and always asked if they had an opening available. By chance, he crossed paths with the editor of the Press-Gazette and was offered a job. David started his career at the Press-Gazette, and worked there for over 50 years. He earned a supervisor position of the Ads and Layout Department, and retired in that position the day the Press-Gazette closed their doors at their local Green Bay building.

On May 29, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Mardell May Bowman, at SS Peter and Paul Church. They were blessed with 72 years of loving marriage and raised six wonderful children in their lives.

Schoepp is survived by his wife, Mardell Schoepp, children, Michael (Joan) Schoepp, Lenore Younkle, Pamela (Bill) Noll, Lisa (Ron) Plog, and Nadine Schoepp; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; his brother, Peter Schoepp; nieces and nephews, other loved ones, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter; son-in-law; his grandchildren, Michael Schoepp Jr. and Ashley Plog; and brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025 at SS Peter and Paul Parish, which is located at 710 N. Baird St. in Green Bay, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, individuals are asked to consider a memorial donation in Schoepp’s name to the Green Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
