
Bonita Marie (Langteau) Yost, a reporter for the Star News in Medford for more than two decades, died Oct. 4, 2025 at age 83 at Prairie Maison in Prairie du Chien. Her obituary appeared in the Oct. 8, 2025 issue of the Courier Press in Prairie du Chien.
Born in Taylor County Wisconsin on Oct. 16, 1941, Bonita – known better as Bonnie — was the daughter of Roy and Helen (Boxrucker) Langteau. Her parents moved to Colby, where she attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Colby High School in 1959.
She attended the UW-Eau Claire, where she met her future husband, Fay Yost. They were married at St. Mary’s church in Colby on Aug. 8, 1964, and moved to Medford, where she had a job teaching high school math.
She worked as a reporter for the Star News in Medford for 26 years.
Per her wishes, there will be no formal funeral services at this time. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to Prairie Maison or ovarian cancer research. Learn more at www.garrityfuneralhome.com .
