A Rosendale-Brandon School District employee, who was placed on administrative leave Sept. 11 following a social media post that was made following the murder of Charlie Kirk, resigned from her position effective immediately.
The resignation was covered in a story that appeared in the Oct. 2, 2025 issue of The Tri-County News in Kiel. According to the story:
Superintendent Wayne Weber made that announcement in a message to Rosendale-Brandon School District families and staff last week Wednesday, noting that the district thanks Laconia High School English teacher Kaytie Storms “for her service to our students and wish her well in her future endeavors.”
Storms posted on her private Facebook page that, “Charlie Kirk was a racist, xenophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, sexist, white nationalist mouthpiece who made millions of dollars inciting hatred in this country.” It went on to say, “I extend absolutely no empathy for people like that” and that “in this situation, my empathy is reserved for his children. May they grow up to live in a country that is the total opposite of everything their father envisioned.”
A screenshot of the post was made public — drawing the ire of community members and people across Wisconsin.
In a second message that was sent to Rosendale-Brandon School District families and staff last week Wednesday, Weber noted that the district has “received a number of communications from community members seeking Storms’ resignation from her position at Laconia High School” and went into more detail.
The district did not disclose the separation agreement, stating, “the law requires that Ms. Storms be given a seven-day period during which the agreement can be cannot yet be disclosed. When the revocation period expires, the agreement will be final and subject to the processes under Wisconsin’s Open Records laws, which include notification to Ms. Storms should she wish to challenge the release of the agreement.”
Weber also wrote to families that a long-term substitute teacher already is in place for the affected classes.
