Carlton named editor at Iron County Miner

Ardith Carlton has been named editor of the Iron County Miner. 

A story in the Sept. 26, 2025 edition of The Miner announced the new editor. According to the story:

Carlton succeeds Ricky Kelly, whose 18 years with The Miner included six as its editor.

The Miner’s reporter and photographer since September 2021, the transplanted Michigander is daughter of the late David Carlton, longtime regional editor at the Battle Creek Enquirer. She began her community journalism career at that daily newspaper while in high school. She has also served as staff writer and copy editor of Hoof Beats, the U.S. Trotting Association’s monthly magazine.

Carlton also co-wrote the book Robotech Art I. Her freelance work has appeared in the magazines Comics Collector and Just About Horses.

She also worked in Japan as an English teacher and song lyrics translator. 

She lives in Hurley with spouse Corky.
