New Racine County high school sports reporter Mitch Fink introduced himself to readers of the Journal Times in the newspaper’s Sept. 12, 2025 issue. The New York native graduated from Boston University in spring, 2025.
“A nerdy bookworm and sports nut of a fourth grader, I tore through every book in [Dan Guttman’s Baseball Card Adventure) series, reserving each one from the local library. I realized over time that I, too, wanted to write stories about sports,” Fink wrote in his introductory column.
“When I learned it was possible to be a sportswriter for a newspaper in seventh grade, I decided that’s what I would do with my life, Fink wrote. “I’ve kept at it, and I landed here in Racine as a result.”
