PHOTOS: Iron County Miner hosts Wayzgoose

The Iron County Miner helped celebrate Iron County Heritage Days — and the 140th anniversary of the newspaper — by hosting its first-ever Wayzgoose from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025 at The Miner, which is located at 216 Copper St. in Hurley.

Here are selected photos from the event:

Autumn Hill, owner and publisher of the Iron County Miner, stands with the beautifully-decorated cake in honor of the MIner’s 140th anniversary at its July 25, 2025 Wayzgoose event in downtown Hurley (Iron County Miner photo).
Hurley Mayor Joanne Bruneau and husband Bob were the first visitors to the Iron County Miner’s Wayzgoose on Friday, July 25, 2025. They are pictured with Jan (Moore) Gulan (on left), Miner historian, enjoying one of the many albums of photos, clippings, and information Jan has curated over the years (Iron County Miner photo).
Tammy Borovich, grandniece of F.A. “Fritz” Emunson, former owner, editor, and publisher of the Iron County News, holds a copy of her great uncle’s last issue at the July 25, 2025 Wayzgoose at the Miner. Fritz sold the paper and it was merged with the Montreal River News in April 1950 (Iron County Miner photo).
