A company’s non-profit organization has donated a surfboard-shaped “Buddy Bench” in memory of the late former Southern Lakes Newspapers editor-in-chief Ed Nadolski at the Burlington Community Aquatic Center.
The Twin Lakes Report covered the donation as part of its July 18, 2025 issue. According to the story:
Nadolski died on Christmas Eve 2024 following several health crises including non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He served on the Pool Board for several years, including a pivotal transition from the former community pool to the new center completed in 2018.
In addition to advocating and fundraising for the Burlington center, Nadolski was also instrumental in advocating for an aquatic center in Port Washington.
In honor of Nadolski’s memory and pool legacy, the non-profit arm of Scherrer Construction donated a Buddy Bench to the pool. Nadolski’s wife, Jacqueline, and daughter, Lauren, were on hand for the presentation of the bench to BCAC Director Jeanne Otter.
Scherrer, which served as the construction manager for the new facility, donated the bench through its Scherrer Cares non-profit.
Buddy Benches are anti-bullying efforts to promote kindness and nurture friendships and have become fixtures at 50-plus Wisconsin schools.
