Chornobroff joins LaCrosse Tribune

The La Crosse Tribune has added Shaun Chornobroff to its team as a full-time sports reporter, as announced in the paper’s July 10, 2025 edition.

The 24-year-old found his passion for journalism while studying sports media at Rider University, where he covered several sports, the impacts of COVID-19 and eventually served as the student newspaper’s executive editor.

Chornobroff earned his master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland in fall, 2024. While at the University of Maryland, Chornobroff freelanced high school sports coverage for The Washington Post and Bethesda Magazine.

Additionally, he wrote an in-depth data story detailing the environmental impacts of the Big Ten’s expansion and numerous 2024 election stories for Capital News Service.

“We’re excited to have Shaun join our team,” said Kevin Winters Morriss, who oversees the River Valley Media Group’s sports departments. “He’s a talented writer with a ton of great ideas. I can’t wait to read the stories he tells about the teams and athletes throughout the area.”

Chornobroff is glad to be back in the much more familiar realm of sports after his foray into the political sphere. He loves sports, writing and getting to know people, he said. This job will allow him to do all three.
