After more than 16 years working at the Valders Journal, Todd Bergmann has gone into semi-retirement, according to a June 12, 2025 story in the newspaper.
The longtime reporter will still be working on the occasional story, but he has not worked full time for the newspaper in several months. Bergmann said he began working in journalism during the summer of 1982 when he left a summer job in a chlorine factory after sustaining an injury. He received a degree in journalism from the UW–Milwaukee in 1988. Other newspapers he’s written for include the Milwaukee Times, the Clovis News Journal in New Mexico, the Daily Democrat in Iowa, Leesville Daily Leader in Louisiana, and the Review Times: Ostoria in Ohio.
He started working at the Valders Journal in early December 2008 and — apart from some periods of medical leave — continually worked for the Journal from that time until stepping back earlier this year.
