Jeff Patterson elected president of Wisconsin Newspaper Association

Jeff Patterson, president of Adams Publishing Group’s Central Division, has been elected president of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association.

Patterson succeeds Kris O’Leary, publisher of the (Abbotsford) Tribune-Phonograph, (Cornell) Courier Sentinel, (Edgar) Record-Review, (Loyal) Tribune Record Gleaner and The (Medford) Star News.

O’Leary passed the gavel to Patterson during the WNA Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, March 6, 2025 in Madison. The appointment became official during the association’s annual meeting the next day.

“WNA is one of the best press associations in the country.  I’m honored to serve the industry as a life-long newspaperman, in this role,” Patterson said.  “We have a great team on the board that will work hard for their members.”

Other newly elected officers include Greg Mellis, publisher of the Shawano Leader, first vice president; Dave Wood, Director of Operations at New London Press Star, second vice president; and Joe Yovino, Associate Publisher/Editor of The Daily Reporter, as secretary/treasurer.  

O’Leary, who will serve on the board as past president, and her mother, Carol, have both served as president of the WNA and the WNA Foundation. Carol O’Leary served as WNA president in 2014. 

WNA board directors include Greg Borowski, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel; David Eliot, Peninsula Pulse, Baileys Harbor; John Ingebritsen, Morris Newspapers, Lancaster; Kelly Lecker, Wisconsin State Journal, Madison; Richard Lee, Inter-County Cooperative Publishing; Andy Pennington, Regional President, APG Southern Wisconsin; Dave Sherman, Vice President of Sales for Lee Enterprises in Southeast Wisconsin; and, Patrick Wood, CEO of Multi Media Channels, Green Bay.
