WNAF needs members assistance with the announcement of the 2024 Wisconsin Civics Games Editorial Writing & Cartoon Contest winners

Eighteen high school and middle school students have been recognized by the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation for their submissions to the 2024 Wisconsin Civics Games Editorial Writing & Cartoon Contest. The contest asks Wisconsin youth to submit editorials or cartoons expressing their thoughts on the First Amendment.

2025 Wisconsin Civics Games

The contest is part of the WNA Foundation’s response to declining civics education and participation in the democratic process. In April 2025, the WNAF will host the 2025 Wisconsin Civics Games, during which high school students compete to answer civics-related questions in head-to-head matches.

The preliminary regional competitions will be held virtually on April 9-10, with the top-performing teams advancing to the state finals on May 2 at the Wisconsin State Capitol. Members of the state championship-winning team will receive $2,000 scholarships to the Wisconsin college or university of their choice.

Teachers and students interested in participating in the Games can sign up online through March 1, 2025 Participants will receive a textbook to help them prepare for the Games, as well as access to several online resources. Learn more at wisconsincivicsgames.com.

Team registration information:

In order to register to participate in the Wisconsin Civics Games, you must submit the names and email addresses for ALL participating team members. If the members of your team have not yet been identified, but you would like to stay up-to-date on Civics Games news, you can sign up to do so here.

Once your team members have been identified, please return to fill our the registration form. The deadline to register is March 1. 

A team may have any number of players who meet all eligibility requirements, but only up to four players can actively compete at any given time. Teams may compete with as few as one player. This year, schools are allowed to enter multiple teams in the regional competitions. A winning team will have a maximum of four players eligible for a scholarship.
