Report for America will continue supporting the careers of emerging and early career journalists by offering a host of new reporter positions in host newsrooms.

Applications for these positions are now open through the deadline of Feb. 3, 2025. Prospective applicants should use this link to the application and individual newsroom positions.

Report for America’s mission is to strengthen communities and democracy through local journalism that is truthful, fearless and smart.

RFA is a national service program that places journalists into local newsrooms to report on under-covered issues and communities. An initiative of the nonprofit media organization, the GroundTruth Project, RFA is structured to harness the skills and idealism of an emerging group of journalists plus the creative spirit of local news organizations.

Since 2017, RFA has:

• Placed nearly 700 reporters into nearly 400 newsrooms in all 50 states to help report on under-covered topics and communities;
• Invested more than $20 million in direct salary support to newsrooms through innovative cost-sharing service model (and millions more in training and support) ;
• Matched this investment with an additional $30 million in local donations; and
• Become one of the nation’s most diverse pipelines of journalists, with nearly half of corps members identifying as journalists of color; and two-thirds as women.
