Jacob Puestow of Manitowoc began working part-time at the Valders Journal last week and will cover a variety of stories, including features. The hiring is the first part of staff changes coming for the Journal, according to a story in the Dec. 5, 2024 issue.

Born with autism, Puestow attended Two Rivers schools from first to 12th grade, graduating in 2020. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and graduated in 2024 with a bachelor’s in writing and applied arts. He is an advocate for autism awareness, especially Autism Spectrum Disorder.

He wrote in an introductory column that his interests in writing revolve around politics, culture and entertainment. Outside of the Valders Journal, he operates a private YouTube channel called Vulgar School, where he publishes short-form entertainment and video essays.

In his spare time, Puestow said he indulges in trying out Mediterranean recipes, watching foreign films and reading history books. “My friends jokingly refer to me as somewhat of a historian,” Puestow wrote in his introductory column, “as I’m often the guy some people come to with questions.”
