Organizations partner to develop election PSAs

LeaderEthics in a collaborative partnership with WisAct and Keep Our Republic has developed a series of public service announcements (PSAs) in support of a safe and secure November election in Wisconsin. The messages express support for Wisconsin’s election process, and encourage citizens to resist succumbing to election disinformation and misinformation. Notably, the messages urge citizens to exercise their right to vote.

Four 30-second PSAs include spokespersons such as former Wisconsin governors Jim Doyle and Scott McCallum; Kevin Reilly, President Emeritus, Universities of Wisconsin; Morna Foy, former President of the Wisconsin Technical College system, and Meagan Wolfe, nonpartisan Administrator of the Wisconsin Elections Commission. Included in the series is a PSA featuring prominent La Crosse citizens Richard Kyte, Mary Kay Wolf, Carolyn Bostrack and Catherine Kolkmeier.

The partnership leaders recognize there may be a challenge in finding social media space due to the flood of political ads. At the same time, in most media markets, social media consumers are tired of the political ads which are often negative, so the same consumers of social media may find these nonpartisan informative ads to be a refreshing alternative.

In one PSA, community leaders from La Crosse, Wisconsin Richard Kyte, Catherine Kolkmeier, Carolyn Bostrack and Mary Kay Wolf share reasons why voters should be cautious of election misinformation and why we should vote.

In another PSA, former Wisconsin governors. Scott McCallum and Jim Doyle discuss the importance of a fair and safe election in Wisconsin on Nov. 5.

In a third PSA, former Wisconsin governors. Scott McCallum and Jim Doyle along with Kevin Reilly, President Emeritus, Universities of Wisconsin and Morna Foy, former President of the Wisconsin Technical College System emphasize avoiding election disinformation and the importance of voting.

In a final PSA, nonpartisan Administrator of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, Meagan Wolfe, discusses voting registration and basic voting guidelines.
