Mineral Point resident Kenyon Bennett is a finalist for the DOWNING Journalism award.
Bennett, who writes for The Democrat Tribune and The Dodgeville Chronicle, will be recognized during the Women Writing the West 30th Anniversary Conference in Denver Oct. 10-12, 2024. Bennett also freelances for historical magazines and groups.
She will be honored for her article, “Rowdy Cowboys, Outlaws and a Blood Feud,” published in True West magazine. The WWW organization supports female writers and professionals who write about the West or feature it in other media.
Bennett will provide a short presentation during the journalism awards luncheon on Friday, Oct. 11. “In keeping with the rich history of WWW, the DOWNING Journalism Award is presented in honor of the late Sybil Downing, a noted journalist and author in Boulder, Colo., who was also a founder of WWW,” the organization said.
