Matt Ellis recently joined the staff of the Janesville Gazette as a sports reporter.
“I’ve always enjoyed watching sports and talking to athletes about their experiences,” Ellis wrote in his introduction. “The best part about the sports viewing experience is the stories told beyond the stat sheet. Whether it’s a legendary who’s leaving behind an impactful legacy, a senior who comes through in a clutch moment, or a program that is loved by their community, those stories deserve to be told and I’m thrilled to be the one to share them.”
The UW-Whitewater graduate enjoys exploring Wisconsin’s nature, disc golfing, hiking and fishing in his personal time. His first stories were published in The Royal Purple, the UWW student newspaper.
From there I’ve made it my mission to be the best sports reporter I can be,” Ellis wrote. “I can’t wait to get to work for The Gazette by covering the local community.”
