Former Wisconsin journalist Gary Lee Peters dies at 74

Gary Lee Peters, a former Wisconsin reporter and editor, died on July 14, at his home in Sheboygan Falls. He was 74.

Born on Nov. 8, 1948, in Menominee, Michigan, to Gervais and Lucille Peters, he graduated from Marinette Catholic Central High School in Burlington. He went on to attend Lakeland University in Plymouth and the University of Wisconsin.

Peters was a reporter and editor for several Wisconsin newspapers, including the former Marinette Eagle-Star and The Sheboygan Press. He earned numerous state, national and international writing awards during his journalism career. He also served as director of communications for Marinette General Hospital.

He later tutored high school, college and graduate students, as well as adults, in writing through his company, Final Draft.
