Reisinger joins Journal Sentinel’s Ideas Lab as contributor

Brian Reisinger, a former newspaper reporter who now works as a writer and political consultant, has joined the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel‘s Ideas Lab as a contributor and collaborator, the newspaper announced last week.

In his new role, he will write about rural issues from a perspective that comes from his roots on the family farm in Sauk County. He’ll also collaborate with Ideas Lab video columnist Kristin Brey on a new program, “Get to the Point,” which features the two conversing about big issues in the Badger State, each from their own perspective — Brian from the right and Kristin the left, wrote Ideas Lab editor Jim Fitzhenry.

Reisinger earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UW-Eau Claire in 2008. He went on to serve as a reporter for the Wausau Daily Herald and Nashville Business Journal before shifting to political communications. Since 2015, he has worked on the U.S. Senate campaigns of Republicans Lamar Alexander and Ron Johnson, as well as Scott Walker’s run for governor. He’s also a frequent freelance contributor to publications across the country.

Reisinger currently serves as the president and chief content officer of Platform Communications in Madison, and he splits his time between California and his cabin on the family farm.
