Bob Heisse, who has served as executive editor of the River Valley Media Group for the past 2 1/2 years, is retiring after 44 years in journalism. He is being succeeded by Todd Krysiak, whose first day in the role was March 1.

Heisse joined the news group, which is owned by Lee Enterprises, in 2020. During his tenture, he oversaw newsrooms at the La Crosse Tribune, The Chippewa Herald and Winona (Minn.) Daily News. He succeeded Rusty Cunningham, who retired after 41 years with the company. For the last two years, Heisse served as executive editor of the Kenosha News.
A native of Lancaster, Penn., Heisse is a graduate of Penn State University. He previously held top editor roles at The Northwest Times of (Munster) Indiana and the State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill. He also served as editor of the Centre Daily Times in State College, Penn., and as city editor of The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Penn.
His career includes leading newsroom coverage of events that drew national attention, including the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State and the civil unrest that followed the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha.
