Reporter Neal Patten joins Waunakee Tribune

Neal Patten

Neal Patten, a reporter and southwest Wisconsin native, has joined the Waunakee Tribune as a general assignment reporter, Adams Publishing Group of Wisconsin has announced. His first day with the newspaper was Nov. 15.

In addition to his work in Waunakee, Patten will cover a variety of topics for APG’s newspapers in DeForest, Lodi and Poynette.

Patten has a particular interest in writing in-depth feature stories, highlighting interesting community members and new local businesses, according to APG’s announcement.

Prior to joining the Tribune, Patten spent three years with Unified Newspaper Group (now Wisconsin Media Group), where he worked as a reporter for the group’s four newspapers and two magazines. He also has freelanced at publications including The (Janesville) Gazette, the (Dubuque, Iowa) Telegraph Herald and Tone Madison.

Patten studied journalism at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where he also integrated creative writing, film studies, and environmental studies into his education. Prior to getting into newspaper journalism in 2019, he had spent five years working in nonprofit marketing.
