An Elk Mound native, Dempski began her journalism career in 2016 at the Tribune Press Reporter in Glenwood City after working for nearly a decade in human services. She went on to become regional sports editor for the Lake Mills Leader and Hometown News Group before her most recent role as a sports reporter for the (Eau Claire) Leader-Telegram.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing communications and journalism from UW-River Falls in 2000, her bachelor’s degree in social work from UW-Eau Claire in 2009 and her master’s degree in social work from UW-Madison in 2012.
In 2019, Dempski suffered a stroke while covering a fatal crash in Jefferson County. Nearly four years later, she still deals with lingering effects, according to her introductory column for the Courier Press.
