Wisconsin newspaper editor Jonathan Stefonek pens first novel

Jonathan Stefonek, managing editor of the Lodi Enterprise & Poynette Press, has been writing stories most of his life. Now, he has written a book, reports Bridget Cooke of the Portage Daily Register.

The Adventures of Carol and Boscobel,” features two cats who escaped from an animal shelter. Disillusioned by humanity, the pair flee to the wild to live a more authentic, feral life. But being domesticated cats, they run into some problems along the way.

Stefonek’s publisher, Orange Hat Publishing, of Waukesha, aims “to amplify the voices of talented, passionate emerging authors,” according to the company’s website.

A New Richmond native, Stefonek earned bachelor’s degrees in marketing communications and broadcast journalism from UW-River Falls. He went on to earn his master’s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa in 2012.

Prior to his position in Lodi and Poynette, Stefonek served as the managing editor of the DeForest Times-Tribune and as a reporter for the Portage Daily Register.
