Reporter Joe Schulz is leaving the Ripon Commonwealth Press to take a job with a statewide news organization, he announced last week in a farewell column.
Schulz, who in 2020 earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from UW-Oshkosh, previously served as managing editor of his student newspaper, The Advance-Titan, and news director of the university’s radio station, 90.3 WRST-FM. He also was a freelance reporter for the Oshkosh Herald.
While still attending UW-Oshkosh and serving as a summer intern for the Commonwealth Press, Schulz was promoted to a full-time reporter covering local government, business and education.
Schulz noted in a farewell piece published by the Commonwealth Press that he was a member of the staff that won the 2021 WNA Foundation’s Better Newspaper Contest award for general excellence.
