Wisconsin Civics Games regional winners to advance to state championship

MADISON – More than 150 students from 29 schools competed Friday in the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation’s Civics Games regional competitions. 

The teams faced off in head-to-head competitions to answer questions about the state budget, local elections, legislative term limits, quorums and other civics-related issues. Four regional competitions were held virtually via Zoom.

The top three scoring teams from each region advance to the state championships on May 13 at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison. Each member of the state championship winning team will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship to a Wisconsin college or university. 

Parents and members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend.

State finals schedule

8:30 – 9 a.m. – Registration

Participants should take the South Wing elevator to the 4th Floor. Signs will direct students to the registration table outside of Room 411 South. When not participating, teams will be sequestered in Room 425 Southwest. 

9 a.m. – Welcome message, followed by the beginning of competition

Lunch – Lunch breaks will be taken on a rolling basis. Vouchers will be provided to participating students for area restaurants.

The competition is expected to wrap up around 3 p.m.

  • Big Foot Union High School
  • Indian Trail High School and Academy
  • West Bend East & West High Schools (Team #3)
The top three teams in the Civics Games – Region 4 competition are announced on Tuesday, May 3, via Zoom.
