Ross McDuffie, a veteran newspaper executive, has been named president of Madison Media Partners, the company — formerly known as Capital Newspapers — announced this week.
McDuffie has been with the company since August 2020, previously serving as vice president of sales and marketing. In his new role, McDuffie will be the senior operational leader and chief revenue executive of Madison Media Partners.
A native of Columbus, Ga., McDuffie is a 2007 graduate of Berry College. He started his newspaper career as a multimedia producer for News Publishing Company in Rome, Ga., from May 2007 to December 2009.
McDuffie then spent more than 10 years with McClatchy, starting as a multimedia marketing consultant for the Columbus (Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer. He moved up to retail sales manager, director of sales and finally vice president of advertising during seven-plus years with his hometown newspaper.
Over his final three years with McClatchy, McDuffie served as the company’s regional vice president of advertising in Georgia, vice president of strategic sales, general manager and senior director of leadership development.

Madison Media Partners is owned by Lee Enterprises and The Capital Times Company. Formerly known as Capital Newspapers, it rebranded in October. The company publishes the Wisconsin State Journal, The Capital Times, Baraboo News Republic, (Beaver Dam) Daily Citizen, Juneau County Star-Times, Portage Daily Register and Wisconsin Dells Events.
