Victor Hoberg, who worked nearly 50 years for The Sheboygan Press, died Thursday, Aug. 26, in Sheboygan. He was 99.
Born May 23, 1922, in Sheboygan, he was the son of Victor L. and Sidonia (Eggert) Hoberg. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1940.
After graduating, Hoberg started working as a newspaper delivery driver for The Press. But just five months later, his career with the newspaper was interrupted when he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Hoberg was discharged in January 1946 and returned to The Press, where he worked in the mailroom and delivered newspapers to carriers. He later became manager of the advertising services department, a role he held until his retirement in 1987.
Married 70 years, Hoberg and his wife, Arlis M. (Harff) Hoberg, had two daughters — Karen and Victoria — six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors for Hoberg will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan.
