Pam Humpal has retired after 36 years as advertising manager of the Amery Free Press, the newspaper announced Tuesday.
Humpal, a lifelong Amery resident, joined the Free Press in March 1985. Her last day was Tuesday, and a retirement party was held Wednesday at the Free Press office.

During her time with the newspaper, Humpal wrote a weekly column, “Pounding the Pavement with Pam.” The column carried on a tradition established by previous Free Press advertising managers.
Humpal spent her entire newspaper career with the Free Press. Previously, she worked for several years at ComPrintCo, a printing company that shared the same ownership as the newspaper.
