Bernice (Dittmann) Schnell, who worked many years at the (Manitowoc) Herald Times Reporter, died Friday, May 14, in New Holstein. She was 88.
Born April 9, 1933, in the Manitowoc County town of Centerville, she was the daughter of Walter and Hertha (Bratz) Dittmann. She attended Kiel High School and graduated in 1950.
On June 20, 1953, Bernice and LeRoy Schnell married at St.John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Wis. Together they had two sons — Rodney and Jon — one daughter, Joanne, and three grandchildren.

Schnell worked at the Herald Times Reporter until her retirement. Outside work, Schnell enjoyed baking, camping and fishing, and she served as a 4H leader in Cleveland.
Visitation will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 23, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 916 Pine St., Manitowoc. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.
