Born Nov. 26, 1944, in New London, she was the daughter of Richard and Vera (Gunderson) Conlon and a Clintonville High School graduate.

Joan and Ronald Hansen married Dec. 8, 1962, at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville. Together they had three children and five grandchildren.

Hansen got involved with local media outlets later in life. She wrote columns for the Chronicle and Tribune-Gazette newspapers and had her own radio show on two local radio stations.

Tricia Rose, publisher of the Chronicle, shared her memories of Hansen in a column Tuesday. Rose noted that when starting the newspaper in 2009, she was encouraged by several people to hire Hansen, also known as “Red.”
