Moran joins The Alert after nearly two years leading a pair of Adams Publishing Group newspapers, the Ashland Daily Press and the (Phillips) Price County Review. He takes over the role previously held by Julie LeMoine, who is moving to a graphic design position.

Prior to his time with APG, Moran had spent his entire newspaper career in northeastern Wisconsin. He got his start as an intern at The (Appleton) Post-Crescent and later worked in sales marketing in the newspaper’s circulation department from 1983 to 1995. He spent a year as circulation manager for the Oshkosh Northwestern before taking on a role from 1996 to 2001 as an Appleton-based sales manager for Journal Communications, the former parent company of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Moran also spent time as a newspaper owner and publisher, buying the Chilton Times-Journal and several monthly publications. He was publisher of the Times-Journal when it closed in 2017.
