EDGERTON – Edgerton Reporter publisher Diane Everson recently recognized readers in the community who have submitted letters to the editor and their importance not only to the newspaper but also to the community as a whole.
One of the most widely read sections of the newspaper, Everson notes the Reporter has been publishing letters from its readers since 1874.

While praising the importance of this dialogue, Everson also offered helpful suggestions to readers on what does and doesn’t make a good letter to the editor. Among her tips were to use the forum as a place to suggest ideas, influence public opinion, educate the general public and start community conversations.
Everson also recognized those who contributed over the last year by publishing a list of everyone who wrote a letter to the editor in 2020. The list included 55 names, offering a glimpse of how many members of the community can be reached through this traditional newspaper forum.
