EAU CLAIRE – Veteran journalist Matt Milner has been named editor of the (Eau Claire) Leader-Telegram, the newspaper announced Sunday.
Milner, who was born in Dallas and grew up in St. Louis, replaces Gary Johnson, who left the Leader-Telegram in late June after 34 years with the newspaper. Johnson now serves as university relations specialist at UW-Eau Claire.

After graduating in 2000 from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo., Milner started his professional career as a reporter for the Boonville (Mo.) Daily News. He later was named editor before moving on to take a job in Iowa.
Milner joined the Ottumwa (Iowa) Courier in 2002 as a staff reporter and moved up to digital content editor in 2011. He was named managing editor in 2016, and remained in the role until accepting the editor’s role at the Leader-Telegram.
