VERONA — Unified Newspaper Group on Monday announced several changes in its leadership positions, including the retirement of general manager and regional publisher Lee Borkowski.
Borkowski is retiring after more than a decade as general manager. Longtime group editor Jim Ferolie has been named to fill her role overseeing UNG’s four Madison-area community newspapers. Ferolie, who joined UNG in 2006 as editor of the Verona Press, will oversee the sales and front office team for UNG, as well as the editorial staff.
With Ferolie’s promotion, reporter Kimberly Wethal has been named news editor for the group. Wethal also will continue to cover Verona schools, Fitchburg government and oversee UNG’s election coverage.
Emilie Heidemann, a former WNA Foundation intern who joined UNG in November 2018 as a community reporter, will serve as the community and business editor. Heidemann covered the Oregon community and government before transitioning to her current role.
