Pulvermacher has been on the staff of The Hartford Chronicle student newspaper for two years, serving this year as co-editor and opinion editor.

The $500 scholarship sponsored by the WNA Foundation is awarded each year by the Northeastern Wisconsin Scholastic Press Association to a graduating high school senior who plans to attend UW-Oshkosh.

In addition to writing for the paper and serving as an editor, Pulvermacher also contributes as a cartoonist and photographer. Pulvermacher wrote in her application that joining the Chronicle staff has been “the greatest choice” of her high school career.

“By being involved in journalism, I am able to go outside into the community and interact with new individuals and groups I’d never normally connect with,” she wrote. “Journalism has taught me how to effectively inform the community with direct stories and pictures that give a sense of emotion. Having a job that you love is important to me and if I can find a job in the field of journalism, I’ll know that everything I did was worth it.”
