WEST BEND — Jeff Arenz, a veteran journalist with more than 20 years of newspaper experience, has been named sports editor for the Daily News, the West Bend newspaper announced Saturday.
Arenz comes to West Bend from the Creston (Iowa) News Advertiser, where he also served as sports editor. Previous stops for Arenz include The Hutchinson (Kan.) News, the Effingham (Ill.) Daily News, The Herald Journal in Monticello, Ind., The Daily Globe in Worthington, Minn., and the Murray (Ky.) Ledger & Times.
A native of Streator, Ill., Arenz started his career at his hometown newspaper, The Times-Press. In his introductory column to West Bend readers, he credited former Times-Press sports editor Harold Olson for teaching him many things he still uses as a journalist today.
