Lyke, who was a longtime member of the WNA Board of Directors and served as WNA President in 2006, received the Outstanding Service Award during the chamber’s annual social event. In honoring Lyke with the award, the Chamber of Commerce praised him for his commitment to the community. Jason Mansmith, the chamber’s executive director, noted it was a “pretty easy selection,” the Commonwealth reports.

After 57 years of family ownership, the Lyke family sold the Commonwealth at the end of last year. His parents, Doug and Audrey Lyke, bought the newspaper in 1962. Doug Lyke also served as WNA President in 1980.
