WATERTOWN – The (Juneau) Dodge County Independent News will be merged into the Watertown Daily Times following its Feb. 27 issue, the newspapers announced Thursday.
The announcement said the move reflected the changing news media landscape and was done to better serve the company’s communities. The Independent News, which was founded in 1893, thanked subscribers for their loyal readership.

Both newspapers, which have had common ownership for more than two decades, are owned by Adams Publishing Group. Subscribers to the Independent News will have their subscriptions converted to the Daily Times.
Readers of the Daily Times should notice little change, managing editor Scott Peterson said, as most Independent News articles already appear in the Daily Times.
