Howe was one of several individuals recognized for their work in the community during the chamber’s annual awards dinner. Also honored were Terry Sharp, for his work at the Marquette Depot Museum and Information Center; Duane Boelman, for his historic preservation efforts and role in bringing back the Great River Road, Road Race; and Joan Burns, who was honored for progressive leadership.

After a lifetime dedicated to local news, Howe plans to retire next year. He had served as owner and publisher of the Courier Press until May, when it was sold along with four sister publications to Morris Newspaper Corporation of Wisconsin.
