Daily News editor Bill Barth named to Beloit Historical Hall of Fame

BELOIT – Bill Barth, longtime editor of the Beloit Daily News, will be inducted Oct. 13 into the Beloit Historical Hall of Fame, the newspaper reported Friday.

Barth is one of five inductees in the Hall of Fame’s 2019 class. Other inductees include Tom Finley, Diane Hendricks, Curt Lansbery and Ron Whitley.

A graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Barth began his journalism career at the Times-Courier in Charleston, Ill., before accepting a position at the Daily News in 1976. He was named managing editor three years later, and in 1994, Barth became editor.

Barth, who has worked extensively over the years on WNA legislative efforts, was inducted into the Wisconsin Newspaper Hall of Fame in 2016.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., Oct. 13, at the Beloit Historical Society, 845 Hackett St.
