MARION – Sara Tischauser has been named publisher and editor of The Marion Advertiser, the newspaper announced Thursday.
A graduate of Marion High School, Tischauser earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from UW-River Falls in 2005. She previously worked as a reporter for the Pierce County Herald in Ellsworth and as a freelance writer for the Wisconsin State Farmer.
Tischauser was expected to be brought along slowly, learning from owner and publisher Dan Brandenburg before taking over the Advertiser. But when he died last week, Tischauser stepped in to produce her first edition as publisher and editor of the Advertiser.

In her introduction to readers, Tischauser thanked the Brandenburg family for the opportunity and said she was “excited to be coming home to cover my hometown.”
Brandenburg’s wife and daughter, Patsy and Angie, will continue to help Tischauser during the transition period. They hope to carry on Dan’s legacy by making the Advertiser “the BEST newspaper around,” they wrote in a letter to subscribers.
