Skip Heine, who worked for 40 years as a professional photographer, including a stint at The Capital Times in Madison, died June 5, 2019, at his home in Fulton, Tex. He was 82.
Heine was the son of Ernie and Lea Heine. He served in the U.S. Navy before beginning his photography career.

Nominated for two Pulitzer Prize awards, Heine worked for many newspapers across the country, including the Cap Times. Among the events Heine covered for the Cap Times was the contentious 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Heine is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth Heine, Katrina Unruh and Michelle Martel. He will be interred in Golden Gate National Cemetary with his father, Ernie.
