Former central Wisconsin journalist Joyce Hubbard dies at 88

Joyce J. (Schauf) Hubbard, who worked as a journalist in Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, in Stevens Point. She was 88.

Hubbard was born Aug. 10, 1930, in Stanley, the daughter of William and Edna (Robbins) Schauf. She graduated from Durand High School and earned her journalism degree from the University of Colorado Boulder.

She worked at the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune before moving to Stevens Point in 1970, where she continued her journalism career through freelance work. She also worked at the Portage County Public Library until retiring in the mid-1990s.

Hubbard’s family will hold a private funeral service to remember her life.
