Iron County circuit court judge Patrick Madden, who during college served as editor of UW-Green Bay’s student newspaper, died Wednesday, July 10. He was 69.
Madden graduated from Green Bay West High School before earning his bachelor’s degree at UW-Green Bay and his master’s and law degrees from UW-Madison. While at UWGB, Madden served as the first editor of the Fourth Estate student newspaper. In 1990, he was named a distinguished alumnus of the school.
After five years practicing law, including one as Iron County District Attorney, Madden was appointed to the circuit court in 1986 by then-Gov. Tony Earl. He remained in the role until his death.
Madden is survived by four children and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Iron County Courthouse at 10:44 a.m. on July 27.
