FORT ATKINSON – After 16 years as a Whitewater correspondent for the Daily Jefferson County Union, Chris Welch is hanging up his reporter’s hat.
Welch is leaving the role to focus on his fiction writing and teaching English classes at Madison Area Technical College.
Despite his freelance role, Welch was an integral part of the Daily Union news staff. He covered a wide range of stories in his 16 years, from city council and school board meetings to fires, parades and trick-or-treaters.
